The Language and Literature Teaching (by language) program at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU) is offered within the Faculty of Philology. It trains teachers of language and literature in English, Russian or other languages.
Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ADPU), founded on 26 August 1921 by decision of Nariman Narimanov, is Azerbaijan's oldest and largest higher education institution for teacher training. In 8 faculties (Philology; History and Geography; Mathematics; Chemistry and Biology; Primary Education; Preschool Education; Physics; Arts and Physical Education) it has 18,000 students, 300 of them international, and 1,600 academic staff, 62 of them professors. It has its main campus in Sabail, Baku, plus the Ganjlik, Nasimi and Tabriz campuses, and 5 branches in Shaki, Guba, Shamakhi, Aghjabadi and Jalilabad. Through the Mevlana program it runs student exchanges with 11 universities in Türkiye, and it has agreements with 34 foreign universities. The campus has a 200-bed dormitory for female students. Its annual fee (about $1,352) is among the most affordable of the state universities in Baku.
No entrance exam score is required for admission; applicants apply with a high school diploma and transcript. The program lasts 4 years (8 semesters, 240 ECTS) and leads to a bachelor's (bakalavr) degree; teaching is offered in Azerbaijani or Russian groups. Students whose language level is insufficient are placed in a 1-year preparatory course.

The first 2 years cover subject courses and the foundations of pedagogy; the 3rd and 4th years include teaching methods, school practice (internship) and a graduation thesis.
