Nakhchivan State University — what is taught, how the program progresses, what graduates become
The master's program in General Psychology at Nakhchivan State University (NSU) provides specialization in psychological theories, experimental psychology and psychological research methods. Since in many countries the title of clinical psychologist requires a master's degree in clinical psychology, students should note that this program is focused on general psychology.
Nakhchivan State University (NSU) is the state university of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, on the border with Turkey, founded in 1967: 10 faculties, 43 departments, 528 faculty members, about 12,000 students and a 108-hectare campus. As of December 2025, more than 1,200 of its 1,693 international students are Turkish citizens. The Master's and Doctoral Center runs all graduate programs; Nakhchivan is a few hours by road from Iğdır and Kars.
Admission requires a bachelor's diploma in a related field and a transcript; for international students, document evaluation and an interview replace the entrance exam. The program lasts 2 years (4 semesters, 120 ECTS) and is completed with a course period, pedagogical or research practice and the defense of the thesis (magistr dissertasiyası). The language of instruction is Azerbaijani.
